Tell us a bit about yourself and your styling of photography?

I’m Joanna Scott, a happy wife, mummy to a little boy named Jack, and dog mum to Willow, our Cavalier King Charles who brings endless joy to our lives. My photography style is a blend of editorial and genuine emotion, creating timeless images that feel both artful and authentic. I strive to capture the in-between moments—the quiet glances, the laughter, the raw emotions that make each story unique. My approach is intentional yet effortless, balancing refined composition with a romantic, natural aesthetic.

What made you decide to go into photography?

My love for photography began at a young age, deeply inspired by my Dad, who has always had a huge passion for photography. Watching him shoot and seeing the way he appreciated the world through photography sparked something in me early on. Before I even had a camera of my own, I would constantly take pictures on my phone—close-ups of random objects, unusual textures, anything that caught my eye in a different way. Eventually, my dad bought me my very first camera, and that moment really solidified my connection to photography. During my college days I became heavily inspired by fashion photography, collecting Elle and Vogue magazines. I often photographed friends for creative projects and it eventually grew to more than just a hobby.

What would you say is your favourite locations to photograph couples at Hyde House?

I absolutely adore the terrace and gardens outside of the Grange, which hold a quiet kind of magic, especially at sunset. As the day begins to soften, golden light filters through casting a warm, dreamy glow over the perfectly kept gardens. The gentle sound of the water fountain adds to the serene atmosphere, making it feel like time slows down for just a moment. For couples on their wedding day, it’s the perfect place to pause, breathe, and soak in the joy of it all—surrounded by nature, bathed in soft light, and wrapped in peaceful beauty.

What do you love most about shooting Hyde House Wedding days?

I honestly love shooting at Hyde House—it’s one of those venues where everything just flows so naturally throughout the day. The layout of the venue is so thoughtfully designed that it allows the entire day to flow seamlessly, from morning preparations to the first dance. Over the years, I’ve come to know the space in every season, and I love how each corner of the venue offers something a little different. The staff are always so warm and welcoming, and their attention to detail ensures everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and right on time—which makes such a difference, not only for the couple but for everyone involved in the day.

What are your top tips for couples when it comes to getting photos that they’ll really love?

My top tip for couples when it comes to getting the perfect photos is simple—relax, and above all, just be yourselves. The most beautiful moments are always the ones that happen naturally, without force or pressure. Your wedding day isn’t about having a full-on photoshoot—it’s about celebrating your love, surrounded by your favourite people. When it comes time for your couple photos, think of it as a chance to pause, breathe, and soak in everything that’s happened so far. It’s a little pocket of calm in the middle of all the excitement, where you get to be with the person you love most.

Can you share some of your favourite images from Hyde House Wedding days?

Oh gosh I don’t even know where to begin to decide. Some of my favourite weddings at Hyde House have left such a lasting impression on me, not just because of how beautiful they were, but because of the feeling they carried throughout the day. Alecia & Harry’s wedding in September 2024 was full of stunning details—Alecia’s dress was absolutely perfect and paired so beautifully with her flowers and overall styling. The tablescape in the barn for their wedding breakfast, styled and florals by Elsie Mayflower, was genuinely breathtaking—elegant, romantic, and full of charm. And those dusk portraits? The sun had almost completely set, but the atmosphere made it feel like dusk was the new golden hour. Then there was Sam & Will’s wedding in July 2024—an absolute scorcher, but so full of love and joy from start to finish. The dress, the details, the light—everything came together perfectly. It was also the day I discovered a new favourite little spot for group photos, tucked between the tree and the Arbour. These are the kinds of weddings that stay with you long after the day ends. What are your favourite trends at the moment and what do you think will be the big trends of this year and next?

I often share my favourite trends or styling I love on my Instagram but very excited to see; Dramatic drape decor, food & floral tablescape styling, vintage cakes, olive green colour schemes, wild floral bridesmaid baskets and an alternative evening reception outfits just to name a few.
